Liz has always had a passion for nonprofit work. Growing up with both parents working in the sector, Liz realized early on her desire to help nonprofits run more effectively. She is part Avenir’s Consultant team, specializing in board governance and team development projects. She also helps manage the back office workflow for Avenir.
She has spent more than 20 years in nonprofit operations, staff/board recruitment, and project management for executive teams in organizations large and small. With expertise in creating strong systems and clear procedures, Liz works tirelessly to help nonprofits maximize their time and resources.
She and her husband were church leaders in Southern California for about ten years before relocating to the Phoenix area. Since then, she has held two interim director positions at local nonprofits, filling leadership gaps during times of transition. She also served on the leadership team at a large nonprofit in the Valley for five years, where she acted as chief of staff and board liaison on the Executive team. Liz holds a bachelor's degree in English and Spanish Education and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Organization Development from Fielding Graduate University.
She is a proud parent who recently adopted a child out of foster care. Now the (busy) mom to four girls, she is a foster care advocate, I-HELP volunteer, and sits on the boards of three Phoenix-based nonprofit organizations: The Welcome to America Project, AZ Organization Development Network, and The Spring. Her weekends are spent reading, hiking, trying out new recipes and carting her kids around.
